Ciara's "Fantasy Ride" starts in August!
ȯ Posted on 17 Jul 2008 by Talisa
On her third studio album, Ciara takes listeners on an unexpected musical odyssey.Walking into Atlanta's Silent Sound Studios would normally be an unremarkable experience. But when you're greeted by a poster that reads "Join the Fantasy Ride: Welcome to Grove City" and your tour guide is R&B star Ciara, you hope you're in for quite a trip.
"The goal for this album is to take you on a musical journey," Ciara says of her upcoming album, Fantasy Ride, a triple-CD opus that she began recording in Las Vegas and is now wrapping up in Atlanta. Fittingly, this excursion has three stops. "I'm taking you to Crunktown, Groove City and Kingdom of Dance." she says. "You're in Groove City right now."
The dimly lit recording room, stocked with wine, cheese and crackers, provides the perfect setting for seductive songs such as "Cool on You", produced by Jasper (known for Monica's "What Part of the Game," Cherish's "Whenever" and Lloyd's "You"). and "Supernatural", written by Ne-Yo. "Groove City allows me to show my growth as a woman," says Ciara, adding that she feels more empowered and comfortable than ever before in her career. "I've adjusted to my new lifestyle, and creatively, I'm more understanding of my environment."
She then takes full control of her surroundings by turning up the lights and cranking up the volume before delving into the album's Crunktown portion. Powered by the Danja-produced "Echo" and the Tricky Stewart produced lead single, "High Price" (featuring Ludacris and written by The-Dream), it's here that Ciarareclaims "First Lady of Crunk & B" title she earned in 2004. "I never really liked that tag, but I'd be crazy not to embrace the kind of music that made a stamp for me," she says. "So Crunktown is where you get 'Oh' and 'Goodies' but to the tenth power."
The album's hyper-energetic Kingdom of Dance portion is filled with attitude-heavy club bangers, including the runway-ready theme "Work" (another Danja production, written by Ciara) and the Champ Champ-produced "When I". "I had to keep the dancing going," she says. "This whole album is about being able to explore, let go and just have fun."
Pack your bags because Ciara's musical trip is scheduled to begin this August. Get ready to ride.

Faces of Tomorrow: Ones to Watch 2008
ȯ Posted on 15 Jul 2008 by Sharie
Last year was a breakout for a few people such as Tasha Smith and Rainforest Films(Will Packer and Rob Hardy) and this year’s list features a number of individuals who could have long futures in this business. Musicians are making more waves into this industry more so than ever, and for some, the timing is just right. Others have gone on to claim their fame in smaller steps. The people listed below are not all new faces--some have gained recognition through other mediums including music, theater and television. However, when it comes to the silver screen, we predict that many will become marquee faves and possibly household names. This year's nominees represent formidable talents whose collective body of work is not only impressive but indicative of their future star potential. Blackfilm.com presents, in no particular ranking, the 2008 faces of tomorrow whom we predict will be on The 'Wood's radar for years to come:
CIARA
- Seems like every year there’s a singer that enters the list with Jamia Nash last year and Alicia Keys and Jennifer Hudson making the 2006 Ones to Watch list. This year features Ciara, who has previously performed on numerous soundtracks but will making her theatrical debut in the long awaited ‘Mama, I Want to Sing!’ opposite Lynn Whitefield and Hill Harper. It’s a lead role and if she carries the film to success, expect more roles to come.

"Fantasy Ride" to be Similar to Britney's "Blackout" Album???
ȯ Posted on 14 Jul 2008 by Talisa
"I'm glad they decided to go with something else.I just got my hands on "Echo", "High Price", "Pull Up", and "Work" in full. "Supernatural" is also on it. It's like Britney's 'Blackout' meets your local hood. The beats on "Echo" and "Work" are incredible. "High Price" is a grower, but better in full. There's not much to it other than a breakdown, and a catchy/chanty bridge. "Work" reminds me the most of Britney's material. It's like "Get Naked" mixed with something else. The vocals are sick, and Danja does that robotic chanting sh!t. Supposedly, these are just the demos, but if they are, I can't even imagine what else will be added to them. They're sick-o-ning.
And I'm not sending sh!t 'cause my friend will know it was me. It's that simple. Single soon."
